“Everyone wants to talk to you.” My friend Elbby said that last night while we were having a tasty adult beverage. That led into a conversation about opening your heart, being approachable, and energy projection. We all radiate energy. I see it like the sign on the door at businesses, open for business or closed for the day. The majority of the time, I am 100% open for business, but there are also times I need to close for a bit.
On Wednesday night, Sandra, Wild Thing, started talking to me then said, “I need to stop talking to you don’t I…you’re overloaded right now…I see it and feel it…” She was spot on in seeing my sign said closed for business. I was experiencing a little overload from the umpteen phone calls and texts of people trying to pull me in a number of directions that day, and I need a few minutes to regroup so I could open for business. She did not get her feelings hurt or take it personal, as she knows how to read my energy. After about 10 minutes, I was back online and my sign said open for business.
We all have a sign. It is not always visible to the naked eye, but we do have an open or closed sign. Learning to sense and read them, without taking it personal, does take practice and ongoing work. What is your normal state, open – come on in, or closed for business? It’s your choice.
