Greatest Diet Ever
You cannot turn on the television without seeing some infomercial for the greatest diet ever. I know I sure fire way to lose weight but not so much in the physical sense. I’m talking about getting emotionally and mentally lighter by losing your “stuff.” We all carry around an amount of emotional and mental weight. Much like being physically overweight, “stuff” is also unhealthy for us. Too much emotional/mental stuff can affect our overall health. If we are not emotionally and mentally healthy, it can manifest itself in the physical realm. We may drink more to escape, withdraw due to depression, stop working out, or eat more or less as a crutch.
Just like physical diets, there are emotional/mental diets too, and they too involve cutting back on certain things along with an exercise program. Cutting back on negative/pessimistic energy is one of the cornerstones of the emotional/mental diet. Cutbacks can come in the form of skipping the negative news, staying out of gossip pools at work and overall avoidance on things that just do not feel right. I am not suggesting running away from everything, but we do have choices regarding situations. The exercise program can consist of reading uplifting books and articles, walking to clear you mind, practicing switch-words when you switch low energy words with high- energy optimistic words. There are many other exercises, but I think the see the point.
Being lighter in terms of “stuff,” makes us healthier overall. Do you have some “stuff” you need to lose?
