Reading is FUN-DU-MENTAL

Readability

Readability is just as it sounds.  Readability refers to how easy it is to read and make sense of text.  I recall something Dr. Virginia said in my Technical Writing Course in college, “…30% of most everything written can be deleted without losing the message or intent of the paper…”  We just sometimes make it harder than it has to be when it comes to communicating.  Rather than stop or ask for a timeout when we cannot collect our thoughts, we ramble.  Other times we say nothing at all assuming we may communicate the wrong thing.

In my feeble mind, readability applies to all levels of communication between people.  Our words say one thing but our tone and body language say something very different.  No wonder we stay in a state of confusion sometimes.  Rather than trying to string together a bunch of large words or use exaggerated tones and motion, just communicate with your heart.  Doing all the other nonsense only confuses the other person and makes, their head hurt.

Just be a “readable: kind of boy or girl.  You will be sporting a large smile when you see how many more people want to communicate when they know you are “readable.”
