Flow
I had another Harley therapy session yesterday afternoon and ended up in Galveston. I was sitting outside at the Poop Deck taking in the breeze and sun and noticed some big kites at the store next door. These were not the old plastic 99-cent bat kites from my days as a kid. These colorful, hi-tech kites looked like a NASA engineer designed them. They were tied off to the poles in front of the store and were just doing their kite thing. They were working with the flow of wind. I could see them shift a little left then a little right then up and down.
The wind is a big deal when I’m on the bike. Like the kite, I have to flow and move with the wind rather than fight it. When I pass a semi, the wind has tendency to swirl around behind my windshield and starts pulling the bike forward. Other times I am hit with a crosswind where it feels like I’m riding the bike sideways, and yet again, I go with the flow. I do snicker thinking about how something as simple as the wind can blow around roughly 900 lbs of bike and rider like a rag doll.
There is a flow to everything in life. Moving with the flow means you have made a conscious decision to do whatever it is you are doing. You’re involved. You are participating rather than spectating. Go out and flow around today.
