The Comeback
Eventually, we all fall. Some significant event(s) in life shake(s) you to your core, and you wonder if you will or can recover. They come in all flavors: failed (or so you think) relationships, bankruptcy, addiction, unexpected loss of a loved one, or job loss. I’ve fallen many times. Five years ago when I had a huge fall, I did not think, just could not see it at the time, I would recover from that one, but I did. Out of that fall, I got back into church, lost 60 lbs, wrote a book, learned how to communicate and listen, have a godson, Tristen, in my life, watched my nephew become a Marine, and on and on. All sorts of great things came out of it. I think often of one of Joel’s sayings, “Every setback is a setup for a comeback.”
When you’re “in it,” seeing the way out is often difficult. It’s only when you allow people to help you, and take some time to allow the events and emotions to get processed that you begin to understand there is a path forward. When it happens to me, I asked the following question of God and the universe, “What am I supposed to do with this?” The answer does not always come when I want it, but I do get the answer when I need it most. I know there will always be a “Comeback.”
