The List
3:17 am, an alarm clock, bed, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, and a white ceiling. What do those things have in common? They were the very first things I was thankful for when I woke up. Some would be miffed about waking up at 3:17 am, but I was like, “I WOKE UP AT 3:17.” After I looked at the clock, I did start looking around my bedroom and smiling. I have a roof over my head, a comfortable bed, and air conditioning.
When you learn to be thankful for everything, you begin to see a shift in your life. Even the less than favorable events in life have a purpose. All too often, we take for granted the bed will be there, the AC will work, the roof over our head, or the computer I am typing on at this very moment.
I do not just talk about it. I live the gratitude lifestyle. If you look at my gratitude journal for any given day, you will see things as simple as the following.
Thank you for allowing me to wake up today.
Thank you for the three miles at the park.
Thank you for the Starbucks coffee this morning.
Thank you for the quick power nap in the chair.
Thank you for all the people in my life.
Thank you for the money to buy groceries.
Thank you for the text from Lauren with a picture of Tristen.
Thank you for the phone call from Johnny letting me know he is thinking about me.
As you are reading this blurb, I hope you are thinking, at this very second, about everything you have to be thankful for in your life. What is on your list this morning?
