I contend we have unlimited capacity to learn, and I also believe we have a limited capacity on what we take in prior to popping. I’m talking about information overload from the radio, television, smart phone, or the internet. There indeed is such a thing as TMI – Too Much Information. I take it a step further with TMWI – Too Much Worthless Information. There is just too much clutter that gets called reporting the news. Is there anything positive or constructive that comes out of knowing Lindsay Lohan is in or out of jail? The one that totally blew me away was a headline right after the Bin Laden raid that said, “Bin Laden Was In His Pajamas.” What am I supposed to do with that, and does it add to my life or society as a whole in any positive or constructive way?
We are exposed to and have access to more information than any other time in history. Unfortunately, the majority of the information is worthless. So what if you miss the headline of a pothole on Westheimer or Arnold’s love child. If you are suffering from TMWI, take a break from the worthless information overload. Skip the Constantly Negative News, walk on by the newspaper stand. Trust me; you won’t miss a single thing.
