Roundy Round
Merry go-rounds do that very thing. They just go round and round. The nice thing about a merry go-round is that they have an off switch. You know the ride will be over at some point.
Events in life are sometimes like a merry go-round. We can get the feeling we are going in circles and getting nowhere fast. Although it is not always obvious at the time, there is also and off switch on our internal rides. It’s called change. For change to happen, we must be aware we need it first. I believe awareness comes in the form of feelings or spider senses as I call them. For change to occur so you can get off the roundy round, you have listen to the feelings then do something about it. Without some type of action, how can change ever occur?
If I hear someone continuing to complain about a situation, I ask the pointed question, “So what are you going to do about it?” I ask myself that same question when I get in roundy round situations. I typically give myself three options, stay in it and do nothing but complain and waste my energy, stay in it under the premise of their being a learning opportunity from the situation, or change the situation by taking myself out of it. Staying and doing nothing is a choice. Staying and learning is a choice. Changing by leaving is also choice. The key to exercising the choice is first being aware. If something feels off, then it is. LISTEN to your spider senses. They are there for a reason.
Are you on the roundy round, or are you looking for a new ride? That is a trick question. If you know you are on the roundy round, you have the first part licked. You have “awareness.”
