All About The Experience

11 Blocks

“Rod, There are people that were born and died in an 11 square block area and never left.”  I recall hearing that comment when I lived in Philly from 1987-1989.  It was a comment about some of the residents of the Little Italy area of South Philly.  They had everything they needed within those 11 square blocks or were just reluctant to leave the area.  So why does this thought still linger with me some 23 years later?  It reminds of missed opportunities.

You hear so many stories about people being shut-ins or set in their ways and never getting out and experiencing the world.  They are missing out on experiencing new things in the world and others miss out on what they have to offer the world.  We are not on this earth just to exist.  I firmly believe we all have gifts to share and a purpose in this world.  When we do not share our gifts, we deprive others.  Sharing helps complete the world.  Getting out of our comfort zone can be scary, but it also can be fun and exciting.  It’s that simple in my little feeble mind.
