Keep Moving

Filler

“If you have to keep wondering where you stand with someone, perhaps it's time to stop standing and start walking!”

My friend Sonya posted the quoted above as relationship tip.  It reminded me of something I wrote about relationships, “"If you feel like you are just filler, then you probably are…”  On more occasions than I care to list, I have indeed been or felt like I was filler with someone.  You know the feeling where you feel/sense you are only getting the call as they have nothing else to do, or you hear from them during the week then they disappear on weekends.  Then there is the all time favorite of, “I’m going out of town with friends…I’ll get in touch when I get back…”  Here is what I’ve learned about being filler for someone.  I did it to myself by being readily available rather than saying no or walking away.  They did not do it to me.  I did it to me by allowing it to happen. There are just times we need to say no and walk away from people.

As the quote says, “If you have to keep wondering where you stand with someone, perhaps it's time to stop standing and start walking!”
