Be Quiet

Mute

There are days I have the stereo at the house up to the max and other days where it is off. I can write with it on sometimes, and then there other times I need total quiet so I hit the mute button in my head.  Life presents us with lots of static. From the television to people buzzing in your ear, there is an abundance of noise.

I can feel it when I am over-amped on the noise in my life.  I get very quiet and tend to withdraw.  Those are my triggers to do something about what is going on in my head. That something can be hopping on the Harley for a few hours, sitting in the Bubba chair in total quietness, walking at the park, or sitting on the deck at the beach house.  I’ve learned over the years to deal with it when it comes, or it will deal with me later and typically in a less than favorable way.

We all need quiet time to process “life.”  If you feel like you are full of static more than calm, hit the mute button.  If you cannot seem to get a clear thought no matter how hard you try, hit the mute button.  If you cannot sleep from all the crap racing through your head, hit the mute button.  Take a few minutes each day for just you.  It doesn’t matter how or where, but take it.  It might be just walking down to the lobby of your building for a quick moment.  The activity is not important.  It is all about the “me” time.  Hit that mute button today.
