Break the Code

Diagnostic Code

When your car is on the fritz, you can take it to a mechanic and have them hook up a code scanner to figure out what is going on with your car.  There is a jack under the dash of most newer vehicles where they can plug in the scanner and pretty much get a data dump from the computers in the car.  I sometimes think it would be nice to be able to jack a scanner in the back of my neck to see what’s doin in my silly head.

Actually, our body, mind, and spirit do give us a form of diagnostic codes when we are having issues and can help us solve a lot of our issues but not in all instances.  There are some events that either we do not know how to interpret the diagnostic code, or we need help from a human code scanner like a counselor, doctor, minister, or friend.

One of the guys in the office had such an event this past Tuesday.  He was having chest pains.  He knew he was hurting and something was not right.  He could have easily taken the self-diagnosis position of waiting to see if it was stress, indigestion, or something else.  Instead, he realized this was beyond his ability to get the diagnostic code by himself and chose to head to the ER.  Good thing he did.  He had experienced a mild heart attack and ended up having a 90% blockage in an artery that required two stints.  He also found out he had an elevated blood sugar level.

All too often, we do not heed the diagnostic codes our body gives us.  If something feels off and you have no clue what it is, don’t take a chance.  Grab a code scanner to help you.
