Just 10
Listening to some of the stories about the walk over the last few days has been quite interesting. When you are with someone around the clock for 10 days straight, you get to know them quite well. What probably started out as the first meeting and a handshake in San Antonio on October 16th ended up turning into hugs and new friends some ten days later. Total strangers are now bonded for life in a matter of 10 days. I was able to see people I met from the walk last year along with meet a lot of new people this year too. I met three men from Odessa that knew nothing about the walk until a few weeks ago. They ended up here, doing the last five miles, and attended the Air Force Cross and Silver Star ceremonies today. I told them when we met on Tuesday, “This event will change your life.” I asked them a couple of hours ago what they thought, and they said, “You were right; this is a life changing event.” The walk does that to you.
As I say often, “The people in our lives help make us who we are.” To all my new and old friends out there, thank you for being a part of my life.
