In There Somewhere
I want to be a doctor. I want to be a double naught spy. I want to be an engineer. I want to be president. There is a lot of I want to be fill in the blank out there. How often do you hear, “I want to be me, and I want to be the best me I can be.” Careers and activities are what we do, but
they are not necessarily who we are as a person. Sure, we should have direction, goals, and
objectives in life as long as they are our goals and objectives, and not those
of someone else.
Do you find yourself saying, “I wish
I was fill in the blank more often than I am so happy and grateful
I am fill in the blank?” Maybe the real “me” is trying to tell you
something. Life presents enough
challenges without us trying to shoehorn ourselves into a role or career
defined by someone else. We are the only
ones that can honestly define who “me” is on the inside.
