Pick Me


In There Somewhere


I want to be a doctor.  I want to be a double naught spy.  I want to be an engineer.  I want to be president.  There is a lot of I want to be fill in the blank out there.  How often do you hear, “I want to be me, and I want to be the best me I can be.”  Careers and activities are what we do, but they are not necessarily who we are as a person.  Sure, we should have direction, goals, and objectives in life as long as they are our goals and objectives, and not those of someone else. 

Do you find yourself saying, “I wish I was  fill in the blank more often than I am so happy and grateful I am fill in the blank?”  Maybe the real “me” is trying to tell you something.  Life presents enough challenges without us trying to shoehorn ourselves into a role or career defined by someone else.  We are the only ones that can honestly define who “me” is on the inside.
