Which Way Do You Lean?
You fall down. Do you focus on falling down or the ability
to get back up? You’re asked to work the
weekend. Do you focus on working the
weekend when you wanted to be off to relax, or having a job that allows you to
make some extra money. You have a
flat. Do you complain about having to
put on the spare, or be thankful that you did not have a high speed blowout on the
freeway? It’s easy to focus on the
downside of things. That’s what we tend
to do as it takes less effort.
I did it earlier in the week when
my knee swelled up. I caught myself
being bitchy then started laughing thinking, “Well my knee might be swelled,
but at least I can walk.” I’m certain I
will do it again, and I am certain I will find some upside in whatever event
happens in my life. I choose to find the
upside. That does not mean I am a happy…
happy…joy…joy person all the time. I
have my bitchy and sad moments too. It
just means I work at finding a takeaway from events rather than fixate on the
downside of said event. Like most
everything in life, it is a choice. Which
way do you lean? How is that working out
for ya?
