Rating
In my line of work, we often do assessments
for clients to help them determine their current/future technology
position. We assign one of three
ratings: 1. Well Positioned, 2. Adequate, or 3. Inadequate. A rating of well positioned typically means
their current technology position will meet their needs for three to four
years. An adequate rating is for one to
two years outs, and an inadequate rating means immediate attention is required.
We do similar things in life when
we do personal financial assessments or job related assessments, but how often
do you do assessments on you? You know,
assessing your health on all levels: emotional, spiritual, mental, and
physical. People are all too often
focused on the wrong things in my opinion.
If they did a self-assessment, they would see most all of their “things”
fall into the inadequate rating and need immediate attention. The most common excuse is, “I don’t have
time.” It’s a real simple equation, “take
the time now, or it will take a toll on your later.” It’s okay to have things in each of the categories
as long as you have a strategy for moving them toward well positioned.
If you were to do a
self-assessment at the very minute, what would your rating be?
