What Next?

You Adapt

So!  The big bad Baja racing truck, aka the Raptor, shit the bed Saturday night.  I walked outta my sister’s house, hit the door unlock, loaded up the truck, popped the key in the ignition and zero, zilch, nada.  With the exception of the airbag icon being lit up on the dash, the truck was totally dead.  Mark gave me a jump, and I headed back home.  I tried charging the battery at home but no luck.  Being the resourceful person I am, I improvised.

I rode the Harley to Starbucks in the cold and rain.  Josh picked me up so I could see them yesterday for Christmas, and this morning I rode down to SBs for the morning hot brown water ritual then back home where I strapped the battery on the Harley and headed down to pick up a new one.  As I pulled up to the store, I could see the guy snickering.  I too thought it was funny that I was using the Harley to haul around the truck battery.  This little adventure was just another example of learning to adapt and work with the situation at hand.  I coulda fretted all the way home on Saturday night but I didn’t.  I knew that would solve nothing and only give me a headache.  I knew there was nothing I could do with the truck on Christmas day so I left it alone and improvised.  I went on to enjoy the day then got up this morning and resolved the issue.  I adapted.

The next time you end up in a situation, take a little time to assess it and determine your options rather than going straight to the stressed or spun up zone.  Strive to adapt rather than react.  You may find out you have more options that you think.
