Rather thrown old items away, I either take them to a
local charity, list it on Craigslist, or leave them at the end of the
driveway. In my neighborhood, things on
the driveway last less than about 30 minutes.
Just because I no longer wear or use something doesn’t mean it is worn
out, used up, or would not be of use to someone else.
Today’s society has become quick on the trigger to want
to throw things out rather than give them a second chance. I have plenty of friends that donate clothes
and such to local charities and shop at their retail locations. Heck, I do too. If I need knock around jeans, why not pay $4
for a pair rather than $40 for new ones?
Not only am I being smart with my money, but I am also helping a
charity. Every few months I see Lauren
post about clothes and toys that Tristen has outgrown and making them available
to others. Being a working mom and
raising a baby, she understands how tough it can be and understands how helping
others makes the world a little bit better place.
There is so much truth in the saying, “One man’s trash is
another man’s treasure.” The next time
you get the urge to pitch those old clothes or that old vacuum in the trash,
take a few minutes to think and see if maybe it deserves a second or maybe a
third chance.
