Are there people that just sit around waiting to get
offended? Do they sit in front of the
television or radio for hours on end just waiting? Yes, those are rhetorical questions. If it was something truly offensive, I may
have a little sympathy, but in most cases, it all boils down to someone
attempting to push their own agenda. Take
a look at the news or most any entertainment web site on any given day and
someone is offended or outraged by something someone else said. Look closer and you will typically see the
outrage is not from the receiver of the offense but some other special interest
group. It goes back to that saying of;
even bad press is good press.
If something bothers me, and very seldom would anyone know
as I choose to skip giving any of my time or energy to such crap, I talk to the
person that supposedly said it. After
all, it would be between us and no one else.
If it is a sweeping generalization, I discount it all together. I don’t need a press conference or some
babbling idiot behind a microphone, speaking for me. I’m over 21, mostly of sound mind, and can
make my own decisions. To sum it up, I
take offense to special interest groups and leaches that push a self-serving
agenda. Other than that, I’m all good.
