Early on in this writing adventure, I would get frustrated
if I did not have something new and unique to write about each day. There were times I would send out drivel just
for the sake of sending something out.
Some words were forced, and it would come across to the people reading
it. Luckily, I have people that will
comment and give me honest feedback. Learning
to see the need for a break was and is yet another part of my growth.
My breaks in writing are sometimes planned and other times
just happen. Over the last month, I have
not written regularly. Rather, I wrote
when it was right. I’ve learned to
recognize when I need to step away from the keyboard. The primary indicator is lack of
clarity. If I find myself deleting or
cutting and pasting a lot, I know either it is not time for said subject or
just time to take a break, walk away, and let the chatter in my head clear a
little. Forcing the subject seldom leads
to a good outcome.
We are not made to be like the little battery bunnies and
just keep going and going and going.
Even the bunnies run out of energy at some point. Breaks are a part of life on all levels. We need breaks from work, people, situations,
relationships, and even ourselves. Allow
yourself some downtime. It’s healthy and
most times dang fun.
