The Cleanse

A cleanse is designed well just like the word says, cleanse your body.  They help detox your liver, kidneys, and colon of toxins and chemicals.  By deleting certain things and adding others to your diet, increasing water intake, and avoiding caffeine and alcohol, you can remove a lot of the unhealthy nonsense from your body.  Another type of detox we all need is called a digital detox.  Digital detox is just what it sounds like.  It is the process of totally removing/disconnecting from the cell phone, mp3 player, computer, television, and any other electronic leash in your life.

I personally experienced a damn scary electronic leash incident last week on the Harley.  I saw a silver Honda coming up behind me that ended up zipping over into the left lane beside me.  I look over to see some punk with a full size tablet PC leaned against his steering wheel while he was driving 70 mph.  I had to look twice.  I then looked at him again, threw a hand up in the air and said, REALLY!

I’m not quite sure how or what drove society to think being connected 7 x 24 is a necessity.  Everywhere you look, people are head down in some type of electronic device.  Just like your body, your mind also needs a detox to keep it clear of emotional and mental toxins and chemicals.  Pick a day, any day, and do a digital detox.  Turn it all off: the phone, the computer, the radio, or whatever.  You will be nicely surprised to see how relaxed your head can get when you turn loose of the electronic leash.
