One of our fundamental needs is the desire to be
wanted. We all have some inherent level
of insecurity that drives the need to be wanted, accepted, and validated. One way to nurture that need is with
appreciation. Appreciation does not have to be tied to a certain event or
activity even though it is nice to hear it.
It is as simple as just saying: “I really appreciate you.” You can build on it from there: “I really
appreciate you taking the time to talk with me, or Thank you, I really
appreciate you helping me around the house, or I really appreciate you being in
my life.” I collectively just refer to
it as the gratitude lifestyle. It’s the
process of being thankful and appreciating everything in life.
Unsolicited appreciation is one of the greatest gifts we can
give. It costs absolutely nothing, but
is priceless to the receiver. It’s also
a pretty dang good feeling seeing the reaction.
Make a difference in someone’s life today. Let them know you appreciate them.
