Where do you spend most of your time in life, in the
bleachers or on the field? That’s not a
trick question. It simply begs the
question, are you a spectator or a participator? How often have you heard someone say, “I’m
waiting on my blessing from the Lord, or I’m waiting on my break to appear, or
I’m waiting for my boss to give me a promotion.” To get the most out of life, we have to take an active role
and be participators. Personally, I
don’t want people to do things for me. I
prefer to try myself, and if I can’t or if something is beyond my skill-set,
then I ask for help. Asking for help
means I am still participating rather than waiting. See how it works.
Sure, there are times in life where we need to pause, get
still, be quiet, and watch for the results of our actions appear; however,
waiting should be the exception rather than the norm. If you feel you are stagnant in a job,
relationship, or whatever situation in your life, maybe you are spending too
much time in the bleachers. If you feel
like you are on the go 150% and cannot see the fruits of your labor, maybe you
are spending too much time on the field.
Bleachers and the field are both important parts of life. For me, finding the balance between the two
is the fun part that keeps life interesting.
