I heard a radio personality discussing a recent epiphany he
had. He simply called it his colossal
waste of time. He was referring to
holding grudges and having animosity toward other radio people, where there was
absolutely no basis. It all came down to
ego and envy. Heck, he did not even know
some of these people personally. He
continued talking about how he had finally realized how much energy and effort
he had wasted and for what.
As I walked out of the gym, I thought about my colossal
waste of time moments. They were all
things I held on to knowing good and well that there was nothing I could do to
change them. They also had one other
thing in common. They were all events tied to the past. “When your past controls your present, what
does that say about your future?” I
recall writing that very quote at a moment in time where I was releasing some
baggage. Shedding loads and letting go
is scary, challenging, and liberating.
That deep sigh when you let go and realize you are done is so calming
and relaxing. I’m so glad I learned to
quit “pack ratting the past.” It was
such a colossal waste of time!
