“I’m done dancing with these waves.” That’s what a young man told me at the beach,
as I was helping him get his car unstuck out of the sand. He ended up stuck earlier and left his car to
do a little fishing. He said, “I knew I
was stuck and could not do anything until daylight so I went wade
fishing.” He said the current was a bit
strong hence the comment about dancing with the waves. As he drove off, I thought about how we all
dance with situational waves in life. Things
come along that cause us to lose our footing (or grounding). Situational waves come in all shapes and
sizes. For the smaller waves, we can
shift our stance a little wider and maintain our footing. For the bigger tsunamis that blindside us and
knock us on our butt, well that’s the time where we need to float with the
current to get back to calmer waters to get our footing/grounding again.
