When was the last time someone said, “Thank you for the
conversation?” I stopped by the Dog
House Tavern today, and one of the regulars said those very words to me as I
was leaving: “Rod, thanks for the conversation.” At a point in my life, I used to take
conversation for granted. I was not much
of a talker anyway and thought words were overrated until I learned the
importance of giving and receiving words and the energy that comes with them.
In a perfect world, I would like to be able to sit down with
those close to me have words with them.
If I can’t see you, I don’t know what you are really trying to
communicate to me. Remember, communication
is 7% words, 38% tone, and 55% body language.
Yes, I email and text more than I prefer, but sometimes that
is my only option compared to no communication.
When was the last time you took the time to have “words” with someone
face-to-face? When was the last time
someone thanked you for the conversation?
Use that electronic leash to call someone and ask to see them. Skip the texting and email, and enjoy some
face time. You too will be saying,
“thanks for the conversation.”
