At The Door

Today was skydive number two, and it was even better than the first one.  This one was a little higher, and I was more active in the event.  I was watching the altimeter, doing the turns; doing 720’s pulling the shoot, and flaring on the landing.  My friend David said it best though, “when I jump, I leave my shit at the door.”

There are so many dynamics in play with skydiving.  Yes, it is dangerous and I respect it, but so is daily Houston traffic.  Your life is literally in your hands and the hands of the jumpmaster. The last thing you want or need to do is be distracted or carrying your daily bullshit with you when you fall out of the plane.

I can also tell you that David is 100% correct.  I looked at the plane door as I dropped and smiled thinking, See Ya.  Daily baggage will kick your butt if you let it.  The way to work with it is seeing it for what it is, and checking it at the door.  Delee validated even further, when she signed up for her second jump right after the first one.  My buddy Rick was smiling and asking when we are going again?

Here’s the deal my dear friends.  Daily baggage and bullshit will kick your ass in a large way, if you let it.  You have a choice to make each day.  You call let the nonsense consume you and ruin your day, or you can check it at the door.  It’s your choice.  If you wanna jump out of a plane and check it, call me.  There is another one coming next month.  A baggage check will happen!
