Each time I do a little something out there on the edge; I
get the question about my Bucket List.
The questions came again with the sky dive this past week. The funny thing is that I do not really have
a Bucket List of things I want or need to do before my run on this planet
ends. Instead, I have a Life List. A Life List, in my terms, is all of the
adventures, people, places, and events that come along with living life to its
fullest. It’s not that I am thrill
seeker or adrenalin junkie, and yes, a lot of the things I do have a high
degree of risk associated but so does driving down the Gulf Freeway in Houston. It’s about enjoying and being thankful for
the experiences that come my way. I’m
fortunate to be able to do some of the things I do, and I am grateful for each
and every one of them.
The Bucket List question reminds me of an article I read
called The Top Five Regrets of the Dying by Bronnie Ware.
“1. I wish I’d had
the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”
“This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people have had not honored even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.”
“It is very important
to try and honor at least some of your dreams along the way.”
Bucket List or Life List, it’s totally up to you.
