My mornings begin with
opening my eyes, looking at the clock, stretching, shifting to the side of the
bed and then a big sigh. It is a matter
of seconds for those things to happen but oh so important to the beginning of
my day. The primary definition of a sigh
is, to exhale audibly in a long deep breath, as in weariness or relief. For me, a sigh is a little different. I see it as a relaxation opportunity before
my day begins. I take a huge inhale then let it all out and am ready for what
the day will bring me. Both martial arts
and yoga taught me the importance and value of deep breathing. In martial arts,
breath control helps with focus and power.
In yoga, breath control helps with each yogi with working through the
flow of the practice.
For me, a sigh is cleansing
and relaxing. I can take in deep
cleansing breaths with no associated nonsense for the day then let it go. That happens, before I walk out the
door. Setting your intention for the day
is the common term. How you start the day
typically determines how your day flows.
I prefer a positive flow with limited nonsense. Yes, there are situations that have the
potential to spin me up, but the nice thing is that I get to choose whether the
situation does or does not drop me in the spin zone. In most instances, one big sigh clears it is
all away. Rather than sigh for weariness
or relief, sigh for relaxation and positive intentions. That one deep breath can change your whole
day.
Sigh for me baby sigh for me!
