Under the Radar

“I prefer flying under the radar.” Bryan Cranston, best known for the series Breaking Bad, made that comment when asked about fame and the associated trappings of being famous.  There are weekly examples of people putting themselves out and drawing the attention of the media only to be shot down in flames, when something in their lives goes south.  A day does not pass that some people put telling detail about their lives on social media sites only to start whining and complaining when people post adverse comments.  If you put it out there, “they” will comment. .  If you feel like you are being shot at or surrounded by drama that is a sure sign you need to get under the radar.  It is hard for people to take shots at you if they cannot see you.

My ego likes recognition and praise just as much as the next person, but once the recognition related event is over I typically go back under the radar.  Staying under the radar allows me to live my life on my terms rather than the terms dictated by others.
