In Between

We are born on a certain day, and we leave this world on another certain day.  The space in between is that great gift called our life.  The nice thing about this gift is that it is ever changing.  You never know from one minute to the next what the gift of life will look like.  It is a dynamic event in every sense of the word.

I cringe where I hear someone say, “I feel like I’ve wasted part of my life.”  That comment usually comes after some epiphany or life changing event.  The irony of the wasted life comment is that it is said from a better place in life.  I have used the wasted life comment and commented about how I would have done things differently in some instances.  When we focus on parts of life thought to be a wasted effort, we are indeed wasting a part of life, as things in the past do not change.  Rather than expending effort on what I could have done, I strive to be thankful for where I am at this very moment, my In Between.
