Clean It Up

I love the spring season.  The weather is great which leads to parties with friends, travel to fun places, and Harley therapy.  Heck, there are two parties this weekend alone plus a trip to Cozumel next week.  Spring is also the time of transitioning from the winter season to summer season.  It is better known as Spring Cleaning.  I remember my dear friend Robert would always look forward to my spring-cleaning as it meant nice clothes and sometimes furniture for his church and charity.  A few weeks ago, I began gathering up the clothes I will donate to Robert’s charity, looking around the house to see what needs to leave, and also snapshotting my life to see what I may need to clean up. Yes, there are things I need to clean up there too.

There are people in my circle that are in the season of change, but they are not sure what is going on.  Some are in places where careers are in play, some with relationships in transition, and some that are doing a wholesale evaluation of their life.  For some, it is scary, as they feel change in the air but are not sure what it is or what to do with it. At one time, I was one of those people.  I knew something was in the air, and that it was somewhat uncomfortable.  Now, I welcome this time of the year. For me, it means getting rid of clothes I no longer wear that will end up helping someone else that may not be able to afford new things.  It is also a time of getting rid of “stuff” that no longer adds to my life in a positive way.  Here is the secret on how I made the transition from being scared to welcoming. I changed my perspective.  It is not about getting rid of things any longer.  It is all about making room in my life for new experiences and new people, better known as growth.  Change is not always easy but it is necessary.  Without change, we stop growing and wither away.

What will you get rid of with your spring-cleaning?
