"We are like pieces in a jigsaw puzzle. We
are unique and have our own special place in the puzzle of the universe. Without each of us, the puzzle is
incomplete." – Rod Williams
My
niece and nephew, Angel and Coltan, asked me if I reread the things I write. I told them I do reread my books and notes,
and the words typically speak differently to me each time I read them. Their question triggered thoughts of the
quote above that I wrote in 2006.
Think
about the times growing up where you are trying to make friends or hang out with
certain groups. Whether it was the
jocks, the stoners, the loners, or whoever in high school, it was the process
of trying to find your fit. Wondering where we fit is part of life in my
opinion; however, I have a little twist on the fit.
My
approach over the last seven years has changed.
Rather than wondering so much about where I fit, I shifted my thinking
to focus on where people and events fit at that very moment. It is the question
of, “What am I supposed to do with this?”
It is not a matter of being selfish.
It is about being comfortable with “me” and where I am in life at this
very moment. Accept and embrace that you have a place in
the big puzzle rather than wondering where you fit. It makes a life a lot more fun.
