Two Hours

Opie, from the O & A radio program, commented about going to meditation for two hours and turning off his phone.  The phone was not set to vibrate or silent but powered off.  He commented about how much can change in a couple of hours.  When he turned his phone on, messaging and social media was blowing up the phone.  The irony is that that was nothing earth shattering or life changing coming in on the phone.  It was just the nonsense and babble people tend to pass around these days.  Opie’s comments reminded me of the importance of disconnecting from the information overload.

I am diligent about putting my phone on Do Not Disturb (DND) when I go to sleep. DND mode is customizable to allow certain phone calls and messages to come through as required.  I have my list set up to allow my family and close friends to ring through if needed.  Otherwise, I do not hear a thing out of the phone until I wake up.

Can you recall the last time you disconnected for any amount of time?  Further, can you recall the last time you received a call or message of significant importance? If not, maybe you should rethink the attachment to your electronic leash.
