Backspace

There are days where I wear out the backspace key on my keyboard especially, when I am frazzled or frustrated.  I do not hold things in.  For me, it works better when I write it out rather than speak it.  It gives my brain the opportunity to process what I am feeling when I see it in words.  Here is where the backspace key comes in to play.  I write it, walk away for a while, come back and read it, and if I’m done processing, I delete it.  Why, there is no reason to rehash or revisit the nonsense once I’m done.

Internalizing things is very unhealthy in my opinion.  Think about it this way.  You need to throw up, literally, and you cover your mouth and nose so it has nowhere to go. Your body is telling you there is some badness inside it needs to get out, but you won’t let it.  Next, you then get that burning feeling inside from the acid in your stomach.  It gets worse and worse until you have no choice to let it all out.  By this time your throat is burning from the acid, you have the dry heaves and you just want it all to end.  That’s how I see internalizing.  It does nothing but fester and make you sick.

Whether you write it or talk it out, be sure to get it out and be done with it.  All sitting on it will do is make you sick.
