Obsolete

I heard a comment made about how writing, actual pen and paper, is becoming obsolete.  Granted, this was coming from a 20 something that was texting away.  I felt myself wanting to say, “And therein lies part of the problem with people today – little to no communication skills…”  He did validate what I’ve been saying for some seven years now.  The art of communication is slowly dwindling away.

Let’s take a look at the state of communication in 2013.  The majority of people prefer to text rather than talk on the phone or face-to-face. While having a beer over the weekend, I looked down the bar and saw four people sitting side-by-side and all were on their phone doing some silly nonsense rather than talking to the ones they came with to have a drink. People will send five emails rather than pick up the phone to ask a question and get an answer in a matter of minutes.  Some school districts are considering or already have removed the requirement to learn cursive writing.  In fact, can you tell me the last time you received anything actually written by hand?  I can tell you when I did.  It was Saturday, June 23rd and was a birthday card from Tristen.  If a three year old can take the time to write something, surely us ever so, smart adults can do the same.
