Did You Hear The One About?

I love a good joke or anything that makes me laugh.  Some of the silly things I do each day make me laugh at myself.  Some mornings I will walk into Richard’s office, not say a word, flip him off then leave, and we both laugh.  For me, humor is powerful.  It has the ability to change most any situation in seconds.  A little banter or a quick joke can change my mood just by shifting my thinking.

When I find myself troubled or down about something, I get that sinking feeling on the inside, then get quiet and withdraw. That feeling just plain sucks. When those times hit, I know I have to shift my thinking.  Two of my go to tools are writing and humor. Since I’m not always in a position to write, I start thinking about funny things and events in my past. Being that I am a techy, I also have an emergency backup if needed.  I keep a series of pictures on my phone that always bring a smile and shift.  They’re pictures of Tristen, Johnny, and lots of pics of friends and me.  They all have one thing in common.  In every picture, everyone is smiling.  When I look at the pictures, it shifts me to the time they were taken.  I don’t know about you, but I cannot stay focused on a funky mood when I am looking at pictures of smiles and good times, and that’s when the shift happens.

If you’re not laughing and smiling multiple times a day, give me a ring, and I will tell you a funny story. Heck, I may even send you some funny pictures of me.  Lord knows there are 1,000s of them out there.  Smile right now damn it.  You know you want to.
