Introductions

“And this is Rod…he always says thank you when you get him a beer…”

A new bartender started at my local “drinker” last week, and the quote above was how I was introduced to her.  I did smile when I heard the introduction.  I like being known as the guy that says thank you.   It reminds me about living the gratitude lifestyle and being thankful for everything in and around my life.  Even when I experience less than good events in life, I am still thankful for the experience, as I know something good will come out of the situation.  Recently, I shot my mouth off to someone and hurt their feelings.  As soon as the words exited my mouth, I knew I was wrong.  I offered no excuse, said I was wrong, and I apologized.  I said it and I owned it.

The upside to my dumb remarks was a reminder that words have power, I am a work in progress, the male ego stinks and overrides logic sometimes, and to pause 5 seconds before opening my mouth.  I much prefer an introduction as the guy that says thank you.  How are you introduced?
