I heard the term mental gymnastics used to describe all the
racing thoughts and nonsense that floats around in our heads. We get to a point
where we have so much going on in our heads that we cannot make sense out of
any of it. When I cannot see things
clearly or make solid decisions, I know that my head is doing mental gymnastics and that I need to
step away, simplify, re-center, and find my balance.
The first thing I do is literally make a list of everything
rolling around in my head and prioritize all of it. I look for what has to be done now, what
items depend on other items to get done, and what can just wait. It’s just another tool for good time
management.
Here is a quick example. When I need groceries and gas for the truck, I will go to a Kroger store that also has a gas station. I get my groceries and I get a discount on my gas for shopping at Kroger. Two things get done at the same place. It is that simple.

Simplify your life by simplifying your head. Mental gymnastics are good for keeping
your frustrated and tired and that’s about it.
