The Chair

I’ve written 1000’s of pages, literally, sitting in my recliner affectionately known as the Bubba Chair.  The Bubba Chair landed in my home in 2003.  For 11 years, it was the source of much comfort, a place of calm on nights where I was stressed, and many nights of sleep when I just couldn’t make the sleep work in my bed.  Tonight the Bubba Chair moved on to a new home.  He now is living with my neighbors.  Originally, I put the chair up for sale, but then things changed.  My neighbor’s mother has health issues and has been in the hospital for a while. They offered to buy the chair, but when they told me it was for their mother, I chose to give it to them.  I literally helped them move it in the house a few minutes ago.  They told me their mother was asking about the chair and if they would get it.  When I helped move it into her room, I knew it was home.
Sure, I could have picked up a few dollars for the chair, but instead, I was able to help someone that was in a situation. t was nice and humbling reminder that the littlest of things can make such a huge difference in the lives of others.

A chair that brought me so much relaxation and inspiration for so many years will now bring someone else relaxation and comfort.  One simple chair my friends.  That’s how easy you can change lives.
