Take It For What It Is

How can you believe that?  I found the book to be useless.  I know you’re smarter than that.  I’ve heard each of the sentences when discussing movies, books, lectures, or beliefs. Personally, I find the sentences selfish, shallow, and short sited. I choose to believe we get a little something out of every event and person we encounter in life.

Sure, I’ve read books that were mediocre, but I can still say that I took at least one thing away from them.  The same goes with movies, lectures and beliefs.  It’s a matter of perspective and approach.  That’s what I mean by take it for what it is.  If I get something out of it that helps me grow on some level, that’s a good thing.  I do not look at everything as a life-changing event, but I do attempt to look at things with the perspective of, “what can I learn or take away from this situation?”  If I’m not learning from my experiences, I stagnate.

Focus your time and energy on looking for the good in things and, “Take it for what it is.”
