Consequence is a result or effect of an action or condition. One of the better teachers of life lessons is consequence. In some instances, consequence can have negative results. Stay out in the sun too long with no sun block, and the consequence is getting your ass burnt up. Run a stop sign, and the consequence can be a ticket or an accident. I choose to look for the good things associated with consequence.
I give someone a heart connected hug, and the consequence is a return smile and hug. I do some random act of kindness and someone’s day gets a little better. I listen to someone who is having a tough day, and they get a little release and comfort from the stresses of life. Letting someone with three items in front of me at the checkout line when I have a full basket, gives them some time back. Calling a server by their name at the bar brings a smile to their face. Do you see the common thread in the items above? These are all very simple things we can do daily that have a positive consequence. What will consequence teach you today?
