Scientists suggest we have approximately 60,000 distinct thoughts a day. That is a lot of processing for the ole brain to take care of on top of other things like breathing. No wonder we sometimes feel like there is a lot of static in our heads. There are times where the static can be overwhelming and stressful, which typically leads to some very draining times. Static of the mind is one of the biggest energy sponges around, and it impact your sleep habits, diet, motivation, and overall mood.
As I heard it put years ago, talk to your problems and not about them. Working with and through the static is an acquired skill, and there are many tools I like to call static busters. You must take action to remove the negative thinking by replacing it with positive thinking. Early in the clarity process, impatience rears its ugly head when things do not shift fast enough for us; however, when you work on clearing out small things then work your way up, things begin to change. I employ several processes to help me maintain clarity and focus.
- When negative things pop in my head, I do a quick mental switch and ask myself if there is anything positive that will come out of this line of thinking?
- I read regularly but only positive things that will benefit my life.
- I stopped watching the news as they all focus on negative and bad things in the world.
- I write a lot.
- I avoid negative situations.
- I share my life experiences.
- I take time recharge each day.
There are lots of other processes and tools, but these are the ones that work for me. If the static in your head is off the chart, change it.
