Where Do I Fit?

"We are like pieces in a jigsaw puzzle.  We are unique and have our own special place in the puzzle of the universe.  Without each of us, the puzzle is incomplete." – Rod Williams

I started writing in September of 2006, and I get asked often, if I reread the things I written.  The answer is yes, I do reread the books I’ve written along with all of my notes/journals, and the words typically speak to me differently each time.  The question does trigger thoughts of the quote I wrote above in 2009.  It reminds of times growing up where I was are trying to make friends or hang out with certain groups.  Whether it was the jocks, stoners, loners, or whoever in high school, it was the process of trying to find out where I fit.   Wondering where I fit is still a part of my life; however, I do have a little twist on the fit.

With age and experience, my approach to finding my fit has changed.  Rather than wondering so much about where I fit, I shifted my thinking to focus on where people and events fit at that very moment.  It is the question of, “What am I supposed to do with this?”  It is not a matter of being selfish.  It is about being comfortable with me, where I am in life at this very moment, and embracing my place in the big puzzle.  Even though my place in the big puzzle changes, I am happy knowing I still fit.
