I know I have a finite amount of energy and time each day, and it is up to me to choose how to use both. For today as of 10:27 am, I used 37 minutes of my time and energy at the gym riding the bike, about 30 minutes drinking coffee and talking with Doug, a couple of hours knocking out some work online, talked to my dad for 25 minutes, and writing a little right now. That still leaves me with a nice amount of time and energy to enjoy the balance of my day doing whatever I want to do. It gets back to that simple word, perspective. Yes, I know there are things that must get done today, but I choose to view them as things I get to do. I get to work out, get to sweat a little, get to drink coffee & talk, get to work some, and get to write. For me, keeping the perspective of get to rather than have to makes for such a better day. Sometime today, trying changing your perspective to I get to, insert subject, and notice how that little subtle change gives you a smile. Perspective is your friend.
