I'm Gonna Do It!

At some point, we all procrastinate about doing something.  For some though, it takes a significant event in life to shift from procrastinating to doing.  I recall reading an article about people with terminal illnesses in hospice about to pass.  The top answer for all people was, I wish I would have not procrastinated and done the things on my list.  I heard a similar conversation on the radio this morning when a storm victim was interviewed.  The host asked the person if there was an upside or something positive coming out of the storm.  The man said, I will no longer procrastinate as things can literally change your life in an instant.  There is that significant even I mentioned earlier.

I shifted my thinking some 15 years ago where I do not have a bucket list.  Instead, I have a living list of things I will do.  Right now, there is only one thing on the list I have not completed.  That’s finding a job that pays me to ride my Harley around the country and drink beer. I do ride my Harley regularly and do drink beer at establishments along the way.  Just have to get that getting paid thing figured out.

In summary, I’ve learned that procrastination has one consistent outcome, and that’s regret. If you have a bucket list, take a serious look at it and determine why you are not doing the things on the list.  Change I’m gonna do it to I am doing it, assign an action plan and date, and get it done.  That bucket list should be your living list.
