Know it All

Teenagers and the so-called Woke ones are the most brilliant minds on earth.  Just ask them.  I know I was when I was that age.  My parents were clueless when put up against my masterful brilliance.  Yes, I’m being a smartass.  The phrase “learn from my mistakes” is thrown around a lot by those of us with more life experiences.  I heard it put another way that makes even more sense: “Take wisdom rather than relive the experience.”

Just like a job, experience increases knowledge.  I am a big believer in respecting people’s opportunities to experience their life on their terms, but if I can drop some knowledge on them and potentially save them a misstep, I will do it.  I can provide the knowledge, but it is up to them to listen and act, or go on down the road of making the mistake.

At 62, I still ask my dad and friends for advice.  I’ve learned the importance of experience and learning from other’s experiences.  I certainly do not know it all, but I know more than I did yesterday.  Remember; strive to learn at least one new thing a day, and when you learn it, pass it on.
