What does your list look like? No, I am not talking about your shopping list or wish list. I am referring to checklist. You know the one. It is your checklist with the parameters and conditions for people to be in your life.
Whether it is a list for the types of friends or a relationship, we all have a list of conditions and parameters. Watch a few minutes of any reality show and you will hear a list or two pop up: “He has to have ripped abs, great hair, new car, and lots of money, or she’s gotta be smokin hot with big boobs and nice butt.” The sad but funny thing about the two previous statements is there are zero comments or requirements on the list for who the person really is on the inside. Remember, the majority of who we are is invisible. The external packaging can look great then you find the person to be emotionally, mentally, and spiritually off in the ditch. Granted, we all have a list of physical attributes we find attractive. The physical side is typically, what initiates the first step to dialog or whatever.
Have you considered whom you could be missing by sticking hard & fast to your so-called conditions list? We tend to be so caught up in what we think we need as opposed to what we really need in life. My personal belief is people are placed in our life for a reason. The reason may not be obvious, but there is a reason. Rather than waste time analyzing the why, be grateful for the what is? Much like you have a reason to be in someone’s life, people also have a reason to be in yours. If you need a 10-tab spreadsheet with pivot tables and a quad processor computer to analyze your conditions list, you need to rethink your conditions.
