Nowadays, people tend to end up on the spin zone for most any reason from lines at the grocery store check out to lines at the airport. From what I see and here at the time, most are whining about delays when they were self-inflicted. You know the ones, the people who did not allow themselves enough time to begin with, and then it becomes everyone else’s problem. They stand in line smirking, making snide remarks, and babbling on the phone about the delays being due to everyone else. It is so tempting sometimes to just ask the question, “How did your lack of planning and inadequate time management become our problem?”
We all get flustered and frustrated, but does it really change the situation to go to the spin zone? Is there any positive benefit to being rude? Nope!
Yep, I do hop in the spin zone at times, but I choose to hold my tongue. One thing that helps me is to view the other person as someone in my family or a close friend. Would I be sarcastic and tacky to them, absolutely not? Would you want someone talking to your family or friends in a sarcastic or tacky way, I think not.
A note I have posted on the fridge says, it’s all about the timing. The next time you feel the sarcasm monster rearing its head ask the question, “Does it help?”
