Walking out of the house yesterday, I saw a man with a backpack walking down the driveway. The initial thought was, I wonder what he is doing on the property, and then I saw a piece of paper rolled up in my gate. The thoughts then went to, just another solicitor putting out things to be tossed in the trash. I did take the time to look at it, and it was a menu for a restaurant in the area, and I have been looking for new ideas for places to eat.
As I thought more about him, I was a little disappointed in myself to first think about the annoyance of the paper rather than thinking about him trying to do a job. As I pulled out of the driveway, I saw him walking by the next group of houses and putting the flyer on the gates. I did take the time to wave to him and rolled on down the road.
Thinking a bit more, I shifted to how he is trying to work and make some money rather than sit around and whine about getting a high paying job like a lot of people are doing right now.
So, for a Tuesday morning, I say thank you to the solicitor for shifting my thoughts in a good way yesterday and providing some info I can use. I’m also thankful for the reminder to not be so quick to judge when I do not have all the information.
